{"id":1,"name":"Gabriel Niles, MD","url":"","description":"Hailing from the deep suburbs of Sacramento, CA, Gabe Niles, was born 2nd of 4 children to conservative, Catholic parents: a nearly ordained Jesuit preist turned gynecologist and a math teacher turned housewife. He attended Catholic school K through 12, the last 6 years of which were almost entirely devoid of female classmates. Ever curious of intracranial and interbeing mysteries, and weary of overbearing dogma, Gabe shunned religiosity and studied cognitive science at Occidental College in Los Angeles with the intention of following in his father's professional footsteps. He spent a few months in China taking a shallow dive in the deep wisdom of Eastern Medicine. After returning to So Cal with culture shock and occupational disillusionment, he spent a couple years teaching high school science in Pasadena. Unable to tune out the call to serve and the opportunity to explore humanbeingness (within the Western paradigm), he completed allopathic medical studies at USC. Med school, residency, and Naval service followed by working as a hospitalist successfully entrenched Gabe in the pharma-sponsored, quick fix obsessed, disease-management model currently in vogue in the West. Fast forward a decade and more of life events: injuries, marriage, kids, job changes, divorce.
